About this project

Located in rue Albert Maignan, Le Mans, the new diocesan house hosts all the services of the diocese. It includes the diocesan administration, the French Christian Radio 'RCF', the diocesan directorate of Catholic education and the bookshop Siloë, a restaurant, a library, a conference room with 250 seats and a small chapel at the heart of the house. Designed on two levels in a contemporary style, the building is composed of a simple and homogeneous volume that blends in perfectly with the surroundings, leaving room for extensive landscaping and 160 outdoor parking spaces.

Our role

We were appointed during the ‘Pre and Post Contract’ phase to provide ‘Cost Management’ for the construction of the new diocesan house designed by Hubert Cazals. The project was administered and delivered under a multiple contract within a 24 mois-month execution programme. Our involvement encompassed direct and indirect management of enabling works, construction, furniture, equipment, professional fees, security installations, external works, landscaping and general attendances. The services we procured included, but were not limited to, the following:

Cost Management

Feasibility studies, benchmarking, financial advice and budget preparation
Establishment of cost planning, cost control, cost reporting, procurement and payment procedures
Establishment of the procurement strategy
Contractual mechanisms and financial safeguards advice (insurance, bonds, warranties, taxes & duties)
Preparation of tender document (contracts, written specifications and bill of quantities)
Assessing progress valuations
