The Amédée Laplace school revolves around a playground overlooking the neighbourhood. On the west side, a 3-level linear building houses the classrooms, while the building along rue Casalis houses a multipurpose room, the school library and the art room. The whole complex is characterised by an overlay of elements playing with shapes, textures and colours. A theme that is well represented by the metallic ripples of the façade cladding. The lightness of its mesh is counterbalanced by the solid stone base. A mixture of elements and concepts that are part of both a classical tradition and a more contemporary take on the project.
