About this project

Based on the site of the former Sablé-sur-Sarthe hospital, the operation consisted in rehabilitating the vacant premises. The goal was to give birth to a shelter, care and training centre for teenagers recovering from psychiatric disorders. The facility can host up to 110 young people discharged from psychiatric hospitals, but too fragile to go back to the traditional school system. The program was organized around four main themes: hospitalization, teaching, leisure and logistics.

Our role

We were appointed during the ‘Post Contract’ phase to provide ‘Project Management’ for the full refurbishment & extension of Sablé’s existing hospital designed by Parallèles Architectures. The project was administered and delivered under a single contract within a 26-month execution programme. Our involvement encompassed direct and indirect management of enabling works, construction, furniture, equipment, professional fees, security installations, external works, landscaping and general attendances. The services we procured included, but were not limited to, the following:

Feasibility studies, benchmarking, financial advice and budget preparation
Preparation of tender document (contracts, written specifications and bill of quantities)
Evaluation, clarification, negotiation, realignment of tenders and finalising contracts
Cost monitoring and reporting
Final account evaluation and negotiation
