A large hexagonal structure with three galleries running around a central spire reaching a height of 77 metres – this is the Centre Pompidou-Metz in a nutshell, a unique building conceived by innovative Pritzker-Prize winner Shigeru Ban. Inside the building, white-painted walls and pearl-grey floors create a delicate atmosphere of space and light. The roof is made up of hexagonal units resembling the cane-work pattern of a Chinese hat, covered with a waterproof membrane made from fibre glass and teflon. Highly innovative architectural choices for a unique experience.
