About this project

Alphatech is the International Research and Development Centre, called ‘CRD’. It is part of ‘IAS’ (Inergy Automotive Systems) division, specializing in the production of fuel-gas tank systems. The new CRD Alphatech is located on an area of eight hectares, owned by Plastic Omnium, and the building itself stretches over 22,000 m2. This project enabled 'IAS' to consolidate all research work on reservoir development in this strategic location, close to academic partners (UTC, ESCOM), a production unit (to carry out a series of tests on a serial line) and major roads.

Our role

We were appointed during the ‘Pre and Post Contract’ phase to provide ‘Project Management’ for the construction of Alphatech’s research centre designed by BG Concept + DLM Architectes. The project was administered and delivered under a multiple contract within a 36-month execution programme. Our involvement encompassed direct and indirect management of enabling works, construction, furniture, equipment, professional fees, security installations, external works, landscaping and general attendances. The services we procured included, but were not limited to, the following:

Establishment of cost planning, cost control, cost reporting, procurement and payment procedures
Feasibility and programming assessment
Definition and development of the project brief
Consultants’ procurement, scope alignment, negotiation and contracts administration
Change, schedule, risk and opportunity strategies and management
Project’s team, shareholders and third-parties co-ordination and management
